A sense of Harmony between the modern and the past
The basis of Design Concept is to bring tradition , history and splendor of the past and apply layers of contemporary materials in a modernized manner and bring it to the 21st-century of design.
European architecture in Thailand was developed since 1860 during reign of King Rama the IV when the country was known as Siam.
Being the only independent country in South East Asia, the King introduced western education and appointed Europeans to high government positions including Architects under a royal patronage.
It was to showcase the kingdom of Siam as a modern country equal to the neighboring British, French, and Dutch colonies.
The Design Concept took inspirations from the architecture of
1. Phra Nakorn Kiri Summer Palace.
King Rama 4th. reign marked the construction on the first western style building on the hill top in Phetchburi. The complex, a mixture of East and West, is of traditional Thai Temple architecture surrounded by European style throne halls and residences in classical arches, arcade and columns in Renaissance style. This made Siam seems like the land of contrast, rich in history and cultural diversity .
2. Klai Kang Won Summer Palace, one of the quintessential landmark for HuaHin, the summer residence of King Rama VII showcases the style of traditional Spanish Mediterranean architecture, a relaxing retreat and made one feel at ease.
